Unpacking the Studio Museum: Our Neighborhood

Unpacking the Studio Museum is a video series that follows Studio Museum staff as they explore the Museum’s history and brand-new building on 125th Street. Unpacking takes you inside our past and present in our neighborhood of Harlem, while also giving you a behind-the-scenes look at art being installed in our new gallery spaces.

Founded in 1968 by a diverse group of artists, activists, philanthropists, and Harlem residents, the Studio Museum first opened on the second floor of a Fifth Avenue building in Harlem. Watch Unpacking: Our Neighborhood to hear about the Museum's place in Harlem.
