Wangechi Mutu is one from a group I call my “Art Heroines.” I call her “heroic” because she demonstrates the perspective-bending courage one needs to step fully into a creative process and forthright telling.
Chocolate Nguva is a wonderful example of this: the simultaneously whimsical and yet not, the slightly alien and yet not, and, ultimately, the strangeness of our interior worlds.
