From Now: A Collection in Context presents a rich tapestry of Black artistic production, highlighting more than two hundred years of artistic achievements by artists of African descent. This exhibition explores the evolving artistic canon through the diverse interests, practices, and voices of artists of African descent.
This tour explores the work of artists of African descent investigating ideas of support, memory, and community. A Studio Museum Educator leads visitors in insightful discussions and art making through elements such as touch, taste, and smell.
This tour is free of charge and requires advanced reservation.
Verbal Description Tours will begin in the Welcome Center on the Lower Level and departs 10 minutes after the program start.
Accessibility Interactivity level: High
Program length: This program runs from 5pm-7pm.
The tour will cover 3 artworks in the From Now: A Collection in Context on the First Floor, Second Floor Gallery, or Fourth Floor Gallery.
This tour is woven with moments where visitors will creatively respond through drawing.
Accommodations: Folding stools, accessible art materials, assistive listening devices, tactile reproductions, and sighted guides will be provided.
