Participate in a zine workshop, Black Crosswords trivia, a curator chat on Black placemaking, and a photo booth—in addition to storytime, art-making activities, gallery talks, and family tours. Enjoy a free sweet treat on the Stoop from our friends at Cloudy Donut Co. (while supplies last)!

Studio Sundays is a day of free programs designed for visitors of all ages, including children and their families. Though admission is free, tickets are required.

Storytime

Time: 11:30 am–12:00 pm

Join artist and author Christopher Myers as he presents Night Ride, a wordless picture book with illustrations like stained glass. Setting out on a warm and glorious night, a group of kids grab their bikes to explore a city that, for a moment in time, feels like it belongs entirely to them. Riding from Harlem, through Central Park, to Chinatown, and over the Brooklyn Bridge, the iconic landmarks of New York City become mirrors that reflect the joy and freedom of Black childhood.

Drop-In Art Making: Symmetrical Sculptures

Time: 12:00–4:00 pm

Draw inspiration from Glenn Ligon’s Give Us a Poem (2007) and create a sculpture that explores balance and symmetry. In celebration of our new building's one-year anniversary, “give us a poem” by adding your voice to a community tapestry in the Education Workshops.

Drop-In Zine Workshop

Time: 12:00–4:00 pm

Create your own zine in our Teen Studio. Share stories or ideas through drawings, photos, writing, and other creative materials.
