Join us for an interactive gallery tour and art-making workshop inspired by artworks from the Studio Museum in Harlem’s exhibition, From Now: A Collection in Context. This program invites adults with memory loss and their caregivers to explore artworks by artists of African descent.
From Now: A Collection in Context presents a rich tapestry of Black artistic production, highlighting more than two hundred years of artistic achievements by artists of African descent. This exhibition explores the evolving artistic canon through the diverse interests, practices, and voices of artists of African descent.
This tour is free of charge and requires advanced reservation.
Arts & Minds programs will begin in the Lobby and depart 10 minutes after the program start.
Arts & Minds partners with museums to bring the joy of art to people living with dementia and their care partners.
Accessibility
Interactivity level: High
Program length: This program runs from 2pm-3:30pm. The tour will cover one artwork in the From Now: A Collection in Context exhibition. The remainder of the program will focus on hands-on art making in the Education Workshop.
Accommodations: Folding stools, manual wheelchairs, assistive listening devices, tactile elements and accessible materials will be provided.
