Join us for a thirty-minute storytime celebrating books by children’s authors and illustrators of African descent. Each session connects stories to themes in the exhibitions on view or to artworks in the Studio Museum’s permanent collection.
Accessibility
- Interactivity Level: Moderate. Visitors are welcome to engage in call and response, singing, and mindfulness activities, but participation is completely voluntary.
- Program Length: This program runs from 11:30am-12pm. Participants are welcome to drop in at any time or stay for the entire program.
- Accommodations: Assistive listening devices, sighted guides, verbal description, a quiet space, ear defenders, fidgets, and adaptive art materials are available.
- Format: We begin with a welcome song and then the book is read aloud with songs, movement, and mindfulness activities throughout. We connect the themes of the book to art at the museum and conclude with a goodbye song.
