Please note: This event is sold out. If you are interested in additional opportunities for professional development at the Studio Museum in Harlem, we encourage you to apply to our Museum Education Practicum. This 10-week program is for arts and culture workers committed to the power of learning and engagement in museums. Participants develop skills in leading tours, facilitating discussions, and designing dynamic experiences centered on art and artists of the African diaspora. Through hands-on teaching, mentorship, and seminars, the program prepares participants for careers in public engagement.
Next Up is the Studio Museum in Harlem’s very own career day. The program will provide insight into the Studio Museum Institute, a suite of programs that reflects the Museum's vision and commitment to training and mentoring leaders in the art world from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Next Up is designed for early-career professionals and students interested in exploring diverse career opportunities within the museum industry.
This event will feature dynamic panels of museum staff from a variety of departments—including Curatorial, Education, Finance, Visitor Experience, and more—who will share insights into their career paths, day-to-day responsibilities, and advice for getting started in the field.
Whether you're considering internships, graduate programs, or your first full-time role, this is a great opportunity to ask questions, make connections in the field, and learn what it takes to build a meaningful career and community within museums.
Refreshments and light snacks will be provided as part of this program.
