Come to Lil’ Studio for a joyful session of art, music, reading and play!
We’ll begin by looking at David Hammons’ African-American Flag and observe how Hammons uses symbols, colors, and designs to create this flag. Next, we’ll create our own flag using vibrant textiles and reflect on how a flag can celebrate identity and community. We’ll conclude by singing songs and reading I Too Sing America by Langston Hughes!
Parents, caregivers, and organizations servicing little ones under five years old are invited to the NYPL Harlem Library to enjoy art making and other activities that encourage creative time and bonding.
Lil' Studio is designed to explore innovative ways to work in the community while taking the Museum beyond its own walls. Lil' Studio is free. Click here for accessibility information at NYPL Harlem Library. For more information, or for accommodation, email [email protected].
