Come to Lil’ Studio and tell a story with textiles!
We’ll begin by looking at an artwork called Haute Mess by Sanford Biggers and see how he uses fabric and paint. Next, we’ll think about a story we'd like to share and use various materials to craft that narrative with art.
Together, we’ll cut, glue, draw, and paint as we develop our own original characters and settings. We’ll conclude by singing songs and reading When I Wrap My Hair by Shauntay Grant. Join us for a joyful session of art, music, reading and play!
Parents, caregivers, and organizations servicing little ones under five years old are invited to the NYPL Harlem Library to enjoy art making and other activities that encourage creative time and bonding.
Lil' Studio is designed to explore innovative ways to work in the community while taking the Museum beyond its own walls. Lil' Studio is free. Click here for accessibility information at NYPL Harlem Library.
