Andrea Pippins's 'I Love My Hair'
Join us in the Atrium for a book signing and discussion with Andrea Pippins, artist and author of I Love My Hair. The pages of this exciting new adult coloring book overflow with playful squiggles, doodles and ink renderings of every hair texture and style imaginable. An outgrowth of Pippins's 2008 social campaign to encourage black women to embrace their natural hair, I Love My Hair celebrates just how beautifully diverse, innovative and fun all types of hair can be.
Pippins is an artist, designer and educator. She holds an MFA from Temple University - Tyler School of Art. Her work has appeared in publications including The Huffington Post and O Magazine and for brands such as Hallmark, Free People and the Black Star Film Festival. In 2012 Pippins was honored as one of Dell's #100 Most Inspiring People. Currently, she is an assistant professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Through Fly, her fashion, art and design blog, Pippins inspires young women to explore their creative passions.
