Group Tours
EDUCATION DEPARTMENT GROUP VISIT INFORMATION AND GUIDELINES
The Studio Museum in Harlem welcomes groups to experience the artwork in the collection and exhibitions. The following information is designed to help in planning your group’s visit to The Studio Museum.
GUIDED TOURS
A Museum Educator, available to groups of no less than 10 and no more than 30 people, leads this one - hour tour and engages visitors in dialogue about ideas raised by works on view. School groups must have one chaperone for every ten students. Chaperones are required and therefore not charged. Guided tours must be scheduled at least 3 weeks in advance.

GUIDED TOURS AND WORKSHOPS
This one hour and thirty minute program combines a guided tour with a hands-on workshop, encouraging students to translate what they have learned and discussed into their own works of art.

SCHEDULING A TOUR
Click here to schedule a group tour. Complete the tour registration form. You will receive an email confirmation when your tour has been scheduled.
CANCELLATIONS
Please note that there is a $50 fee (guided tours) or $75 fee (guided tour + workshops) for tours canceled less than 48 hours before the scheduled tour time. There is no refund for no-shows. Please email Tours@StudioMuseum.org or leave a message at (212) 864-4500 x230 if there is a cancellation. Please be prompt! Groups more than 35 minutes late will forfeit their time slot and not receive a tour.
PAYMENT
Tours must be paid with either check or credit card at least two business days before the scheduled date. The Museum does not accept cash payments. Please make your check payable to The Studio Museum in Harlem. Please be sure to write the words “Group Tour” on the check. Reimbursements are not given if there are fewer people in your group than initially scheduled.
A limited number of fee waivers are available for guided tours each season for New York Title I schools. Educators must submit a tour request on official school letterhead as well as complete the tour request on line. Unfortunately, only a limited number of fee waivers can be accommodated per season.
LUNCH/PARKING
SMH does not currently have a lunch facility and lunch may not be eaten in the Museum. However there are several nearby restaurants on Lenox Avenue and on 125th Street. Parking is not available at the Museum. Buses may drop off and pick up passengers, but may not park in front of the Museum or in the city bus stop on 125th Street. Public parking is available on 126th Street between Lenox Avenue and Adam Clayton Powell Blvd.
